Educational Event Support Reimbursement

Who
Any Realistic Equine Sculpture Society, Inc. (RESS) member, established arts organization or model horse show holder is welcome to apply for a RESS, Inc. Educational Event Support Reimbursement.

What
The RESS, Inc. Educational Event Support Reimbursement is a monetary subsidy given to a deserving educational event organizer to help serve as many equine artists as possible. Proposed educational events should reflect the RESS, Inc. mission:

"To encourage excellence in realistic equine sculpture and associated artistry, promote an interactive education oriented professional community and broaden artistic opportunities through exhibitions, events, education, demonstration and critique."

When
The proposed educational event may be of any reasonable length of time. The next reimbursement will be available only to events held between July 1 and December 31, 2008.
Application deadline: May 15, 2008.

Where
RESS will consider proposals for educational events held in any location. However, planners should consider accessibility, both general geographic accessibility and that of the specific venue (especially with regards to the Americans with Disabilities Act for venues in the US).

Why
Continuing education is essential to an artist as s/he works to further build skills and understand their equine subject. Specialized workshop settings help to hone skills and explore new ideas; elevating the standards and practices of realistic equine artists as a whole.

The Event Reimbursement

The RESS, Inc. Educational Event Support Reimbursement is a matching reimbursement; event organizers must also have non-RESS funding sources in order to qualify.

Requests may be for a maximum of $1,000.00. And, at least 25% of the total budget must come from other sources in order to qualify.

Another way to think of it, RESS may provide as much as 75% of the total budget, up to $1,000.00 per event.

For example, an event with a total event budget of $800.00 may apply for $600.00 in RESS funding.

Or, an event with a total budget of $1850.00 may apply to receive only $1,000.00 from RESS, even though 75% is $1,387.50. RESS will only provide a maximum of $1,000.00.

RESS, Inc. will pay out moneys only after the event is held, receipts and an event report must be submitted for reimbursement.

Eligibility

This reimbursement is available to RESS members, established arts organizations or model horse show holders.

RESS requires that an appropriate compensation be offered to artists/presenters; this may be in the form of a fee charged by the instructor or presenter, the travel and lodging costs of the presenter or other arrangements.

Of course artists/presenters may wish to donate their services, but this should not be expected or required. RESS needs to be confident that artists/presenters are treated in a professional manner. Applicants should show evidence of a commitment to this standard.

All event promotion materials should mention that the event is officially sponsored by RESS, Inc.; copies of the RESS logo will be made available to sponsored events.
